For our last day in the Campania region we took the train to Herculaneum, a town that was destroyed (along with Pompeii) in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, just outside of Naples. I was kinda obsessed with capturing all the colors, texture, and patterns of this beautifully preserved ancient town.

Eery to be in a completely congested area populated with millions of people and look up to see a huge volcano a few short miles away. Yikes.
